Thank you Michael for championing BTE. It is having a positive impact. Having been involved wirth BTE before I retired, I can attest to the "emotional" part of participating. Seeing students succeed in an environment where past performance would indicate they can't is emotional. Students from the local communities had a history of not graduating from high school, but with the assistance provided through the BTE grant over 60% of our cohort has graduated and gone on to post secondary education. Being in the audience for their graduation was a high point in my J&J career. I look forward to working with BTE again as a retiree and urge other that have retired to find a BTE program near them and jump in to help.

I am just back from a holiday joining 20 students of the "J&JPRD Science Bus" to the ESOF conference in Turin, Italy.
It was a fantastic experience and I am so happy to see that other J&J people are also spending their time and talent on what is so close to our heart ... helping others !
More details can be found on the J&JPRD ScienceBus FaceBook page and if you click on "ScienceBus+Others" then you can find there some cross-links to photos of the event.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Science-Bus/340829455876
BTW, all the scientific ESOF presentations are online as videos (including some JNJ talks).

It is amazing what big things can come out of just a little bit of time and effort. Thank you for your vision and dedication to young people! Having a positive effect and influence on just one young person makes it all worth it.

Great post. I would urge all Johnson & Johnson associates to consider mentoring if BTE is operating in your area. While I know that through mentoring you can help students to find and achieve their life goals, I believe that you also benefit personally from the experience. Your communication skills will improve and you will gain insight into the concerns and the dreams of our next generation of leaders.
